Life Groups

barbcyr2016aLife Groups are a vital expression of church life at the Vineyard. Our church structure is different from the traditional pastorally centered church whereby we consider the life group leaders and members as the first line of pastoral care. We take our cue from Ephesians 4:11-12 that apostles, evangelists, preachers, pastors and teachers were given to the church for the “perfecting and full equipping of the saints, that they should do the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church).” (Amplified version)

We believe that meeting in the life group format compliments the larger celebration services and helps to facilitate genuine community, committed discipleship, and effective ministry thereby fulfilling the command of Jesus to go into the world and make disciples.

How do you get involved with Life Group Ministry at the Vineyard? Group listings will be available below one month in advance. If you find one that interests you give the facilitator a call to let them know you are interested or if you aren’t sure what might be a good match for you, call the office (207.854.8339) and they will be happy to help with your search.

Description
God is faithful. His provision is abundant. His promises are true. Recorded live at the Deeper Still event, women can use this versatile study guide for a retreat or as a 7-session Bible study with two weeks each of Kay, Priscilla, and Beth followed by a panel discussion with all three teachers. This study was made to fit into women's busy schedules and only requires 15-30 minutes each day.

Kay Arthur teaches from basically, the entire book of Hebrews! Hebrews is both an example of God's faithfulness and a challenge to believers to be faithful in difficult times.
Priscilla Shirer teaches from Ephesians 3:20-21 on God's abundance. A fundamental basis for every believer is the absolute reality that God can do whatever He chooses to do. God's ability empowers our faithfulness.
Beth Moore teaches on the topic of discernment. In these difficult days it is absolutely essential that we learn to trust the Holy Spirit to enable us to determine what is true and what is false.

Affirmation 2: Love is as important than being right.
Affirmation 3: The Spirit can create unity where it once seemed impossible.
Affirmation 4: We can find our identity in Christ, not in our belief systems.

Description
It’s time, more than ever, to press into God in prayer regarding where we are today, in our personal life, and as a church. Scripture talks about praying in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. One of the ways to care for each other in the Body of Christ is to lift one another up in prayer. As we do, we draw near to Him and realize once again how much we need Him. We learn more and more to trust Him with our whole heart. We trust Him with our future because things are not in our control. Come join us in His Presence. We will be going on field trips upon invitation from people at church.

Description
As a society, we are no less obsessed with the immediate than when Eugene Peterson first wrote this Christian classic. If anything, email and the Internet may have intensified our quest for the quick fix. But Peterson's time-tested prescription for discipleship remains the same--a long obedience in the same direction. Tucked away in the Hebrew Psalter, Peterson discovered "an old dog-eared songbook," the Songs of Ascents that were sung by pilgrims on their way up to worship in Jerusalem. In these songs (Psalms 120-134) Peterson finds encouragement for modern pilgrims as we learn to grow in worship, service, joy, work, happiness, humility, community and blessing.

Description
The Divine Conspiracy has revolutionized how we think about the true meaning of discipleship. In this classic, one of the most brilliant Christian thinkers of our times and author of the acclaimed The Spirit of Disciplines, Dallas Willard, skillfully weaves together biblical teaching, popular culture, science, scholarship, and spiritual practice, revealing what it means to "apprentice" ourselves to Jesus. Using Jesus's Sermon of the Mount as his foundation, Willard masterfully explores life-changing ways to experience and be guided by God on a daily basis, resulting in a more authentic and dynamic faith.
